"A poet's work is to name the unnameable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world, and stop it from going to sleep." -Salman Rushdie
Hey Folks:) Hope your year has been fulfilling and poetic...I Just wanted to let you know that Street Poets will be celebrating national poetry month and remembering the 1992 Los Angeles unrest with a guerilla-style march from the Street Poets Inc. office to Ecological Art Gallery which will be an approximately 1.8 mile walk.
We will be making signs with creative messages after our weekly workshops (Tuesdays Seeking Peace 4-6p and Friday Beats and Ryhmes Studio Session 4-6p) here at SP the week before so please join us if you can for those workshops and bring your road dogs, to hang out before and after to put your message on a poster board, more info will be provided later. We are in the process of planning so if you are interested in being apart of that process please feel free to contact us and jump right in, You can organize a march of your own from your organization and we will all converge onto an open mic space at Eco for a big celebration of poetry and Justice that creates meaningful transformation and change in the world. It will be the end of the National poetry month so lets go out with a bang, bring your hearts, minds and souls and connect to your muse. We hope to inspire a movement of awake and alive artists to document and bear witness to the movement.
Much love and respect fam,
